I added an Office Hours link to my website today. It sits right there in the navigation menu next to Home and Archives.

The idea is simple. If you want to talk, you can now just book time with me. No back and forth trying to find a slot that works. No wondering if it’s okay to reach out. Just click, pick a time, and we’ll talk.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. The people who have shaped my career the most weren’t always the ones I worked with directly. They were the ones who made themselves available when I needed to figure something out. A 30 minute conversation at the right moment can change your trajectory completely.

I remember being early in my career and feeling like I couldn’t just reach out to people who knew more than me. Like there was some invisible barrier. Like I needed permission or had to prove I was worth their time first. Looking back, that was nonsense. Most people are happy to talk if you just ask. But the asking feels hard when you’re starting out.

So I’m trying to remove that friction. The link is there. The time is already blocked off. You don’t need to convince me you’re worth talking to. If you’re thinking about reaching out, that’s reason enough.

I work at Google Cloud during the day. I’m building BrandCast and FamilyCast on nights and weekends. I write here about technical things and career things and making things. I experiment a lot with and do a lot of work with agentic coding patterns, and I have opinions about AI agents that I’m happy to share.

But honestly, I’m more interested in what you’re working on. What you’re trying to figure out. Where you’re stuck or what you’re excited about.

I don’t have all the answers. I’ll probably have more questions than solutions. But sometimes talking through something with another person who cares about it is exactly what you need.

The calendar link is permanent. It’s not going away. Book a slot whenever makes sense for you.

To be a leader in this world you have to be willing to meet and talk and share and learn. This feels like a small step in that direction.
